A poultry farming training program was conducted on 26/06/2023 and 26/06/2024 for women entrepreneurs interested in starting their own poultry farming businesses. The program focused on hen farming, covering essential topics such as breed selection, nutrition, health management and marketing strategies. Through interactive sessions participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the poultry farming process, from setting up a farm to managing day to day operations. The training also addressed specific challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in the sector, providing guidance on accessing resources and building networks. They learned about various hen breeds, their characteristics, and suitability for different production systems, as well as factors to consider when selecting a breed such as egg production growth rate, and disease resistance. Women entrepreneurs appreciated the approach and expertise of the trainers, as well as the opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs. Participants are now better equipped to establish and manage their own successful poultry farming businesses, contributing to food security and economic growth in their communities. The program aims to empower women entrepreneurs to become successful poultry farmers, improving their livelihoods and creating employment opportunities. The basics of poultry was learnt by the participants. They got awareness on the investment required for starting a poultry farm. Some even opined that they have generated great interest in this livelihood activity. They gained the knowledge about business planning and marketing strategies which helped them to succeed in the industry. The training providing them with the skills and confidence to start their own poultry farming businesses. They learned different hen breeds and how to select the best one.
