Who we are

INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY ALAPPUZHA is a non-government, non-profitable organization run and maintained by Salesians of Don Bosco. This organization is registered under Travancore- Cochin Literary Scientific & Charitable Societies Registration Act of 1955 (Act No.12) and rules framed there under. IDSA focuses on assisting the marginalized to seek a better living for the people of Alappuzha District.

Mission

We intend to create a society based on Justice, equality and equal opportunities for all and assure a quality life, through education, empowerment and social uplifting. To this end initiatives are encouraged and accompaniment is offered in achieving the declared goals.

Objectives

• To study, analyse and attempt at the solution for the multiple problems of the backward people irrespective of caste, creed or sex, and in particular of the people of Alappuzha District and the fishermen community.
• To assemble adequate resources, manpower, institutions, technology and finance in order to achieve the above-mentioned objective.
• To assist in co-ordinating the development interventions being initiated by various organizations operating within the area of activity of the Society and to co-operate with these agencies in planning, implementing and maintaining development programmes and actions.
• To organize, promote, advice, network, administer, initiate, take over or amalgamate wholly or partly any organization of similar nature of this society.
• To initiate employment, education, health programmes on behalf of the people.
• To undertake modernization programmes in the work patterns of the low-income groups and traditional fishermen community.
• To organize and conduct training programmes and to devise and conduct vocational and other programmes for the welfare and development of the backward people in general and for the welfare of men, women and children, transgender, senior citizens, migrants, children in need of care and protection, children on the street.
• To undertake relief activities among the people in times of famine, droughts, Floods and other such disasters and emergencies.
• To device, form, manage and administer such schemes as may promote saving mentality and self-reliance among the people.
• To facilitate the involvement of youth groups in activities related to their own and the people’s full human development.
• To stimulate people awareness and active involvement in their development issues.
• To promote and organise recreational and cultural forums, libraries, reading rooms, study groups, as may contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the society.
• To Produce and transmit or telecast audio and video programs and to print and publish newsletters, magazines, posters and pamphlets for promotion of social awareness moral and ethical values or to make known the activities of the society.
• To provide counseling to the children, youngsters and elderly in different spheres of life and run counseling institutes.
• To improve natural resource degradation, the impact of climate change, alternative income and employment opportunities for young people to promote sustainable communities.
• To reduce the carbon footprint of the global public by adopting agro forestry, lush-green, bio-diverse, green Job, improved disposal and management of waste.
• To empower the powerless and be a catalytic agent is to carve out a development niche for the underprivileged based on the Mental Health and livelihood programmes
• To do or cause to be done any or all such acts or things as deemed to be conducive for the social, economic, environmental, cultural, educational, civil, patriotic or physical welfare of the people provided it is not contrary to the objectives mentioned herein.
